Biographical / Historical
Ralph E. Herseth, of Houghton, South Dakota, served as the state’s Governor from 1959-1961. In 1939, Herseth was the civilian superintendent of the Civilian Conservation Corps at Sand Lake, South Dakota. He served as a state Senator from 1951 to 1952 and 1957 to 1958.
