This collection contains photocopies of the activity listing for the Oglala Sioux Tribal Council from 1936-1984. OST Council governs the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
The activity listing includes dates of meetings and very brief descriptions of resolutions passed by the council. The resolutions are organized by year and resolution number. There are no actual meeting minutes or complete versions of the resolutions in this collection.

Biographical / Historical
The Oglala Sioux Tribal Council is the governing body for the Oglala Sioux Tribe of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota. The council was created when the Constitution and the by-laws of the Oglala Sioux Tribe were approved on January 15, 1936. The council is made up of representatives elected from the communities of the reservation. Members of the council serve two-year terms. The Council has many of the same powers of a small local government but state and local law do not bind them. The only constraints put upon the Tribal Council are those imposed by the United States Constitution and the Tribal constitution and by-laws.
